What we collect, and when

Only what you type into the enquiry form: your name, phone number, and where relevant your email address, the machine you are after, the dates, and the site postcode. Nothing on this website collects anything about you unless you fill that form in and send it.

If you ring or message on WhatsApp instead, we have whatever your phone shows us and whatever you tell us, the same as any phone call to any business.

What we do with it

We use it to answer your enquiry: to tell you whether the machine is free, to quote you, and to arrange the hire. That is it. We do not sell it, we do not share it with anyone for marketing, and we do not add you to a mailing list.

The lawful basis is legitimate interests: you asked us about hiring a machine and we are replying to you.

Where it goes

The form sends your details to the yard by email, through a mail provider that passes the message on and does not use it for anything else. The website itself keeps no database of enquiries.

How long we keep it

Enquiries stay in the email account while they are useful, and are cleared out when they are not. Records of an actual hire are kept for six years, because tax law requires it.

Cookies and measurement

Nothing that identifies you is stored on your device unless you agree to it. When you first visit you are asked whether you are happy with analytics cookies, which count visits and show which pages get read. Say no and none are set, and the site works exactly the same.

Your answer is remembered on your own device so you are not asked every time. You can change it at any time from the link in the footer.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Ring or email and we will sort it, normally the same week and within a month at the outside.

If you think we have handled your details badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you rang us first so we can put it right.
